I stumble and fall. the contents of my bag skittle across the room. spilling my contents. burning shame. humiliated, I scoop and claw grasping at scattered remnants. arms sweeping wide. stuffing in. except. they will not stay inside. at inopportune moments lurid morsels pop up. pop out. head first. unannounced but not unaccompanied. an involuntary groan. too late. heard by expectant ears. why. what. seeking eyes burn. It’s a performance. Inexplicable. how to explain.
